Vision of the internet seen in 1958?

Technology boldly holds out the promise of new things. It’s amazing what advances in advertising were imagined fifty years ago. Here is a passage written by the successful advertising man James R. Adams in 1958:

I wonder what advertising will be like a hundred years from now…. Within my own time, we have added radio and television…. It is difficult for me to imagine wholly new media entering the picture; but I suppose it was equally difficult, even fifty years ago, to image advertising messages flying though the air. Whether to charge by the hour, or by the package

The question of how to structure a monthly promotion service was becoming more clear to Kenneth. He had been offering online promotion services for a set monthly fee to clients for a while now. Was it better to charge by the hour, or by the package?

His initial idea for a maintenance plan was to work for x number of hours each month. But was that really the best thing for his client? And was it good for himself, especially since he was getting faster at producing written and A/V materials, and making better connections with various media outlets? His hourly rate of pay would thus stay the same, even though he was becoming more productive and effective. Was that right? Continue reading

Work with your hands if your will is stubborn

He refused to do his phonics pages, and wouldn’t be quiet enough so that Kenneth could concentrate on his client’s project on his laptop screen. At seven years old, Larry should be able to do what he is told, Kenneth muttered to himself. It was time to take him in the backyard.
